Project Overview

Capri Global Capital Ltd. partnered with Buzz Women from 2019 to 2022 to implement their CSR programs in rural Karnataka.

In 2023, Social Footprint Pvt. Ltd. was tasked with assessing the impact of Capri Global’s programs by using surveys and interviews. I collaborated with Social Footprint in designing the assessment report, which introduced the assessment, explained the methodology used, presented findings and concluded with recommendations.

Contributions

I was responsible for putting the report together. My key objectives were:

  • Adopting and building upon Social Footprint’s visual style, and following it consistently throughout the report.
  • Presenting the findings of the assessment in an easily understandable and aesthetic manner.
  • Visualising data suitably, and ensuring context was not lost at any point.
Design Process

At the beginning of my involvement with this project, the content had already been prepared, and the material was provided in a simple word document.

  • Type styles and hierarchy were borrowed from a previous project.
  • I expanded Social Footprint’s colour palette of blue and green by adding complimentary shades of red and yellow, which are useful in data visualisation.
  • I started by plotting the document’s content roughly onto pages, to give visual form to the structure.
  • I then started creating neat layouts using the proper type styles and hierarchy.
  • I used a dynamic layout style that could adapt to the requirements of each spread or section. While 3 column layouts were the most common, usage of 2, 4 and even 5 column layouts helped all kinds of content fit more naturally.
  • I visualised the data and placed it on the spreads. Most of the data - being in percentage terms - was suitably presented as bar charts.
  • I curated images from a library of original photographs by the survey team.
  • Finally, I spent some time ironing out inconsistencies, performed iterations, and brought the project to closure.
